Week 3

Creating Your Island

A lot of you are working on Step #2 today. That step is drawing your island on a plain, white sheet of paper. You can get paper off of the desk at the front of the room. Read yesterday’s post for some tips and reminders about what you need to do for this step.

If You Finish

If you get finished with steps 1 and 2, I don’t want you moving on any further. I will give you the directions for step #3 on Monday.

You are allowed to do what you typically are allowed to do:

  1. Read a book
  2. Work on homework from another class
  3. Visit Class links

Week 3

Island Project (Pre-Production Planning)

Continue working on your Rough Draft. Whenever you finish your script and the sketch of your island, you are ready to move onto step 2.

Creating Your Island

When you’re ready for Step #2, that step is drawing your island on a plain, white sheet of paper. You can get paper off of the desk at the front of the room. A few reminders about your drawings:

-I’m expecting your best work! That means your neatest drawing, labeling, and coloring.

-Make sure the shape of your island fits the theme.

-Don’t just label your landforms, correctly illustrate them as well. For example, on my map I had Glove Geyser. I drew a picture of what I thought a geyser looks like.

-If you are able to do Step #2 in 10-15 minutes, you probably didn’t do it correctly. I would guess you rushed through it and didn’t do your best work.

Week 3

Landform Vocabulary

Most students still need to finish the Landform Vocabulary assignment from Friday. Continue working on it and turn it in whenever you finish. Tomorrow I will explain your Landform project that you will work on for the next couple of weeks.

Election Day

Today is Election Day. Hopefully by late this evening we will know the winners of the various elections from today. After you turn in your Landform Vocabulary Assignment, I want you to do the Win the Whitehouse Simulation activity. If you make it through the whole simulation, raise your hand when you have your final results. I will keep track of who has the most Electoral College Votes. The group with the most will earn 5 extra credit points.

Win the Whitehouse!  In this game, you go through the election process to try to become President.

Week 2

Landform Vocabulary

In a couple of days we will start a project that will take a few weeks. It will be an assignment that is worth quite a few points. Today’s assignment will help you with that project. You will come back to this assignment multiple times and it will help you out a lot.

This assignment is very similar to the population assignment where you did the vocabulary PowerPoint. You have to find a definition and a picture for each word. This lesson focuses on different types of landforms. There are a lot of words that I’m wanting you to find so you will have 2 days to work on this. Here are the vocabulary words Landform Vocab

You can use the internet to find the definitions to the different landforms. Here’s a link that will help you find most of the words.

Use google to find pictures for each of the landforms.

Whenever you are finished, save it:

hr-last name-last name-landforms

Turn it in.

Week 2

US Test

Today you are going to take your US Test. Whenever you finish the test, submit it.

Here is the link to the test.

Your username is your first name, your last name, 756     There are no commas and no spaces. For example, my username would be:  jacobosborne756

Yours should look exactly like that except you will insert your first and last name instead of mine.

You must use your official school name. For example, if your name is William, but you go by Will, you must use your proper name William.

If you have 2 last names make sure you use both last names on your log-in. For example: If your name is Jose Reyes-Lopez, you would need to put josereyeslopez756.

Your password is your Mosis #.

Whenever you finish your test press “Submit”. You don’t have to tell me or show me your score. I have access to all of the scores.

There is to be no talking for the rest of the hour. If you talk, you will receive a 0. I will give you the secret word in a couple of moments.
