Week 9

Today you are going to take your test over Africa. You will not be allowed to use the internet, previous assignments, or your study guide. You and your partner may discuss the answers, but you must whisper. If you are too loud, both you and your partner will take the test separately.

You can access the test at this link.

This is the same website you have used for you common assessment tests.

Your username is your last name, followed by your first name, and then 690. Ex. osbornejacob690

Your password is your Mosis #.

The “secret word” for this assignment will be given to you.

Whenever you finish the test today:

-Make sure you have all assignments finished for me and turned in

-work on homework from another class

-read a book

-visit class links

Tomorrow you will be getting a new partner and we will start learning about Southeast Asia.

Week 8

The test is tomorrow. You won’t be allowed to use your study guide or any other resource on the test. You will have to know all of the answers without looking them up. If the weather is bad enough that school is canceled, we will have the test the first day that we come back.

If you still are missing any assignments:

-Africa Map

-Africa Project

-Africa Scavenger Hunt

I want you to finish these first. After all of your work is turned in, I want everyone to be working on their study guide. If you have your study guide finished, study either by yourself or with your partner. Quiz each other. You can pull up blank maps of Africa and quiz each other on that too.

You may visit this link to play games that will help you review the map of Africa.

Here is a review game that will help you answer some of the questions from the test.

Week 8

If you didn’t finish the map from Friday, finish that first. The directions are in the previous entry.

After you finish the map if you are missing:

-Africa Scavenger Hunt

-Africa Project

Get these finished and turned into me.

After all of your assignments are turned in there is a study guide for Thursday’s test on the blue/grey bookshelf by the door. I wanted you to have a paper version so you could take it home to study off of. This is not an assignment you will turn in. You won’t get to use this or any other resource whenever you take the test. If you study this, you should be fine for the test. Use previous assignments to help you find the answers.

Week 7

You need to be working on today’s assignment. If you didn’t finish the Africa Project you need to work on that only if you finish this assignment first.

Today’s assignment will require you to read and follow directions very carefully! You are going to be creating a map by using the tools in Word.

You need to watch a video first. The video you need to watch is located at    (C) Drive>Osborne>Computer Tutorials>Inserting Shapes to Word   (Note: It’s not the video titled, “Copying and Adding Shapes in Word”)

Here are the directions for the assignment. Make sure you read them closely and double check them to make sure you don’t skip any steps.   Africa Map Directions

Here is the Map you will use for your assignment:  Africa Map

Whenever you are finished, save and turn it in.

Week 7

Priority number one is for you to finish the Africa project we have been working on the past few days. Today is the last day you will have to work on it so you really should get it turned in today.

After you finish and turn in your Africa project you need to work on today’s assignment which will require you to read and follow directions very carefully!

Week 7

So far every class has been doing a great job working on the project. I’ve been very pleased with the way you’ve been staying on task. From what I can tell, it looks like there are still several groups in every class that will have trouble finishing the project today. I will extend the time and you will have tomorrow to work on this assignment as well. Some of you need to make sure you do a little better job managing your time though. Some of you are spending a little too much time on your pictures. Get your research finished and set up your Table of Contents first, then leave your pictures for last. It’ll be easier for you to finish those quickly if you run out of time than it would for you to research and create your PowerPoint.

Next week you won’t be getting new partners. The reason for this is because I want you to stay with the same partner that you’ve had for the Africa Unit because you will be taking a test. You and your partner will take the test together. If you or your partner are absent, you will take the test by yourself. I will be giving you a study guide on Tuesday. The test will be next Thursday (2/21).

It will cover:

-Africa Misconception T/F

-Africa Scavenger Hunt Questions

-Africa Map (this is your next assignment)

Week 7

Today we are going to start a small project that will last 3 class periods. You will have a little bit of freedom for selecting your topics for this assignment. You are going to use PowerPoint to create a “digital book”. You will also be using Paint for this assignment. You can access Paint by clicking on the Windows Icon in the bottom left hand corner>Click All Programs>Click Accessories>Click Paint

Download this document so you can read the directions:   Africa Project

You will also need to watch 2 videos for this assignment. The problem that our classroom has had with videos is now over. I have saved all of the videos to the hard drives on each computer so they won’t have to be downloaded through wifi. Everyone will be able to play videos at the same time and there won’t be any issues anymore.

To access the videos go to the (C) Drive. You get there the same way you would access the V Drive. Double click on the C Drive>Osborne>Computer Tutorials>Basics of Paint

The other video you need to watch is located at    (C) Drive>Osborne>Computer Tutorials>Creating Hyperlinks in PowerPoint

Whenever you finish this project, save and turn it in.
