Week 8

We will begin our presentations today. You have about 10-15 minutes to get your presentation in order before we begin. Go over it with your partner. Make sure you both know who is presenting what information. If you plan on using notes, make sure they are in order. Also, make sure that it’s turned in. Week 8

Asia PowerPoint

Keep working on your project. Today, you should finish the actual PowerPoint. Whenever that happens, go through your presentation with your partner and figure out who will talk about what on each slide. Also, it’s very likely you will want to write notes to look off of for your presentation. Since you and your partner won’t be standing next to each other whenever you present, you might need to have 2 separate pages of notes. We will begin presentations Tomorrow.

Week 8

Asia PowerPoint

Continue working on the project. From watching you yesterday, some groups are doing a good job following the Do’s and Don’ts of PowerPoint, but there are still too many groups typing everything word for word on their slides. Make sure you will be talking to us during your presentations instead of reading off of your slides to us.

Southeast Asia PowerPoint

Here the the directions to your Southeast Asia PowerPoint Assignment: Southeast Asia Project

Here is the PowerPoint I went over today that gives you tips on what you should or shouldn’t have in your PowerPoint: PowerPoint Do’s and Don’ts

Remember!

DON’T USE TOO MUCH TEXT ON YOUR SLIDES! Stay away from complete sentences.

Remember, if you have text on your slides it should serve 1 of 2 purposes:

1. It’s important and you want it emphasized to your audience

2. You want it on there to help you remember to talk about it (You can have notes when you speak though too)

I’m going to be more picky on grading your presentations so make sure you follow the Do’s and Don’ts of PowerPoint to get the best score possible.

Week 8

Week 7

Africa Test

Today you are going to take your test over Africa.

You can access the test here.

Your username is your first name, your last name, 232     There are no commas and no spaces. For example, my username would be:  jacobosborne232

Yours should look exactly like that except you will insert your first and last name instead of mine.

You must use your official school name. For example, if your name is William, but you go by Will, you must use your proper name William.

If you have 2 last names make sure you use both last names on your log-in. For example: If your name is Jose Reyes-Lopez, you would need to put josereyeslopez232.

Your password is your Mosis #.

Whenever you finish your test press “Submit”. You don’t have to tell me or show me your score. I have access to all of the scores.

There is to be no talking for the rest of the hour. If you talk, you will receive a 0. I will give you the secret word in a couple of moments.

After the Test

If you haven’t finished your project, work on that quietly. Monday is a catch up day. Most students haven’t finished the Project and there are several students that haven’t finished the Africa Map.

After you finish you are allowed to do what you are always allowed to do.

1. Read a book

2. Work on homework from another class

3. Visit Class Links or Since this is a test day, I will allow you to go to CoolMath whenever you are finished.

Catch Up Day

Today and tomorrow are catch-up/test preparation days. There are still 3 assignments that I have missing from some students:

  1. Africa Project
  2. Africa Scavenger Hunt
  3. Africa Map

Study Guide

If you have all of your assignments finished, you are going to work on a study guide for Thursday’s test. You need to pick up a study guide off of the desk in the back of the room. Everyone needs their own copy of the study guide. You can use the internet or previous assignments to answer the questions on the study guide. This is not for a grade. It is only to prepare you for Thursday’s test. If you know what’s on the study guide, you will do well on the test.

If you are absent and checking my website, you can get the study guide here: AFRICA STUDY GUIDE

Week 7

Africa Scavenger Hunt

Mr. America is back! He is now wanting to take a trip to Africa. To access the assignment, go to Google Classroom and click on the Africa Scavenger Hunt.

Reminder! This is a great opportunity for you to practice your Google skills. Don’t type out the entire question. Only type key words. Your results will be more accurate and you will be able to finish quicker.
