Week 2

Start watching where you left off yesterday.

Most of you need to finish Part 3 and then go ahead and watch part 4 today. After you finish watching part 4, you should be able to answer all of the questions on the movie guide.

After you finish the movie guide, save it and turn it in.

Week 2

If you didn’t finish Gandhi Part 2 on Friday, finish that first. Pick up where you left off.

Today you will watch Gandhi Part 3.

Don’t forget about your questions from the movie guide.

Week 1

Continue watching Gandhi.

If you didn’t finish part 1, open it up and drag the dot at the bottom of the video player to the right until you reach where you left off.

If you finished part 1, today you will watch part 2. Video (V) Drive OR C Drive>Osborne>Southeast Asia> Gandhi Part 2

In part 2 Gandhi is trying to rediscover India. He’s been in England and South Africa for so long that he doesn’t remember what India is like so he wants to re familiarize himself with it before he does anything to help them gain their Independence.

Remember that you have questions to answer from the video guide.

Week 1

Today we are going to begin watching the movie Gandhi. This is a real movie that won the Academy Award for best picture in 1983. Ben Kingsley is the actor who plays Gandhi and he won the Academy Award for best actor that year as well. This movie does a perfect job of showing how India gained its independence from Great Britain. Great Britain ruled India and the people didn’t like that.  It also explains why Pakistan was created. Pakistan used to be part of India.

As you watch the movie, you need to be mindful of the questions on this movie guide:  GANDHI movie worksheet   You need to answer the questions and you will turn the document in whenever you finish watching the movie. That won’t be until next Tuesday at the earliest.

Save the document as:   hr-last name-last name-gandhi

To access the movie you have 2 different drives to watch it from. If you try to watch the movie from the Video (V) Drive and it doesn’t work very well, try accessing it off of the C Drive. I put the movie on the hard drive of your computers and it will run better off of there than the V Drive since the V Drive uses Wifi. Your hard drive is the C Drive. To access the movie go to the Video (V) or C Drive>Osborne>Southeast Asia>Gandhi Part 1  (Unfortunately, due to one reason or another, not every computer has it on the C Drive, but most do)

Week 1

The Southeast Asia map took longer than I expected. Most students didn’t finish the India Timeline yesterday. Actually, I still had quite a few that haven’t finished the map.

We are getting ready to start an activity that will take 4-5 class periods, but I don’t want most students to be behind so I am going to give you today to finish the 3 items from yesterday:

-Basics of Hinduism

-Southeast Asia Map

-India Timeline

Week 1

You have 3 tasks today. I’m hoping you will finish them all since you’ve at least gotten a start on 2 of them.

1.Some of you haven’t finished the Basics of Hinduism assignment from the day before Spring Break. Most of you finished it.

2. The next assignment you need to work on is the Asia map from yesterday. A lot of you got pretty far on it, but just a few of you finished it and turned it in.

2. After you turn in the Asia map, you need to work on the next assignment which is creating a timeline about India. We are going to spend quite a bit of time learning about Gandhi and how he influenced India/Pakistan. Today you are going to create a timeline. You will need to use the internet to find the dates to different events in India’s history. Then you will insert a text box on the timeline in the correct location. I provided 2 examples for you. Here is the document with the timeline and events:  India Timeline

When you finish you need to save it and turn it in.

Week 1

Welcome back! I hope you had a great break and you were able to recharge a little bit. Today is the first day of the 4th quarter!

Today’s assignment deals with the maps of Southeast Asia. You will learn a new skill in Word to complete this assignment. You will need to watch the Tutorial video at Video (V) Drive>Osborne>Computer Tutorials>Using Scribble in Word. The document for your assignment can be found here: Southeast Asia Map  Make sure you map all of the countries the directions tell you to.

Also, don’t use blue as a color for your countries. That can be mistaken for water.

When you finish the assignment, save it as:

Week 9

Today’s the final day of third quarter and the last day before Spring Break!

If you have any missing assignments, I would advise you to go ahead and turn in what you have completed because all missing work is due today.

Most of you started the first assignment of the 4th quarter yesterday and that was the Basics of Hinduism. You should be able to finish that in class today. That is your first priority.

After you finish the Basics of Hinduism, you have 2 video clips that I want you to watch. The first is about climbing Mt. Everest. You can find it at Video (V)>Osborne>Southeast Asia>Climbing Everest

The 2nd video is about a teenager who a few years ago climbed the tallest mountain on each of the 7 continents (called the 7 summits). He’s the youngest person in the world to ever accomplish this challenge. There’s a video story about him before he finished his journey. You can find it at Video (V)>Osborne>Southeast Asia>13 year old to climb Everest

Yesterday Google announced they have just started “Street View” on Mount Everest. You can access those here. To get started, double click on one of the red markers. You have an opportunity to see some of the villages and monasteries on Mt. Everest.

Have a great Spring Break!

Week 9

We will begin presentations shortly after I take attendance. Put any final touches on your project while I do this. Make sure you have it saved in the correct folder.

If we get finished with all of our presentations and we still have some time left over, we will get our new partners today.

After you switch partners you will learn about Hinduism. It is very different from the other religions we have talked about in this class. You need to download and read this document:  Hinduism PowerPoint

You need to download this document and complete the questions. Make sure you write in a complete sentence using a different color of text.   Hinduism Questions

When you finish you need to save it and turn it in.
