Week 5

Today you are going to work on a sorting assignment.

1. Open this document:   Sorting

2. You need to cut and paste each of the text boxes that are in the last 3 slides, onto the correct slide.

To cut, click inside the box with the text>move your mouse to sit on one of the borders of the box (it should change from a cursor to an arrow going 4 different directions)>right click your mouse>click cut

To Paste, go to the slide you believe is the correct slide it goes with>right click> select paste

3. Whenever you finish, there shouldn’t be any text boxes left on the last 3 slides because they should be pasted onto the correct country or religion. There are 35 boxes.

4. Whenever you finish, save and turn it in.

Week 5

Tuesday and Wednesday we are going to be presenting our projects. If your project is finished make sure you have already copied and pasted it into the Students>Osborne>Your Hour>Middle East PowerPoint folder.

I will give you about 10 minutes to get things in order before we start presentations.

Week 5

Today is the final day to work on your PowerPoint. Whenever you are finished I want you to copy the file from your H Drive and paste it in  Students>Osborne>Your Hr>Middle East PowerPoint. I want everyone’s project in this folder so they are all in one place. It’ll make presentations go faster.

Reminder that tomorrow night is “We Celebrate Culture”. You will earn 20 extra credit points for attending and signing in.

Whenever you finish, you know what you’re allowed to do:

1. Homework from another class

2. Read a book

3. Visit class links

Week 4

Today we will continue to work on the PowerPoint project. It looks like most groups will need 1 more day to finish up so you will also have Monday to work on this.

Presentations will begin on Tuesday.

 

*****Extra Credit Opportunity*****

Next Tuesday (1/29) we are having, “We Celebrate Culture” at the PE Annex from 6:00-7:00. We will have people from other countries around the world in attendance. They will have booths set up and you can see what life is like in their country. There will also be food tasting available so you can taste food from other countries.

It is free to attend.

There will be a sign-in sheet available. If you sign in, you will earn 20 points extra credit for this class!

This event is usually very popular. Last year we had nearly 600 people in attendance.

Week 4

Today we are going to start a small project. You will have 3 class periods to work on it and then we will spend 2 class periods presenting.

You will be assigned a Middle Eastern country to research and create a PowerPoint. For this assignment, I want to see what your current PowerPoint skills are like. Later this semester I will teach you the Do’s and Don’t of PowerPoint. If you have never used PowerPoint before, I have a basic tutorial video that you may watch. It just teaches you the bare basics.  You can access it on the Video (V) Drive>Osborne>Computer Tutorials> PowerPoint Basics.

Culture Grams    Click on Asia and then select whichever country you have been assigned.

CIA Factbook    Click inside of the box that says, “Select a country or location”. Scroll through until you find your country.

I have a Word document that has some good information about each of the countries below. You will definitely want to read this. Click on your country to download it.

Week 4

Today you are going to mainly learn about Judaism. Judaism is extremely important in Israel. You need to download this PowerPoint to learn about the basics of Judaism: Judaism

After you read about Judaism, you need to download this document and follow the directions: Judaism  Make sure you do Part 2 on this assignment. In part 2 you are going to learn a little bit about the Taliban in Afghanistan. You will need to watch a short video to answer the questions. You can access the video from Video (V) Drive>Osborne>Taliban.

Whenever you are all the way finished, save it and turn it in.

Today is your final day with your current partner. On Tuesday you will be assigned a new one.

Today you have an opportunity to finish any assignments that you didn’t turn in over the past 2 weeks:

-Survey

-Developed/Developing Excel

-Islam Basics

-Middle Eastern Scavenger Hunt

You can log-in to Infinite Campus to see what your grades on these assignments are. If there is no grade listed for you on an assignment, that means I never received it. If you have never logged into Infinite Campus, open your planner to page 26 and the directions are there. If you follow the instructions from the planner, but you can’t log onto Infinite Campus I can’t help you. You will need to check with the counselor’s office to see why your log-in doesn’t work.

Whenever you have all assignments turned in:

-Work on homework from another class.

-Read a book.

-Visit class links.

Week 3

This assignment will most likely take you more than 1 class period to finish. I will give you today and tomorrow for this assignment.

For this assignment you are going to help Mr. America plan a trip to the Middle East. He has lots of questions about what to expect. This is Mr. America.
