Week 9

Closing Out

Today is the last day that you will have this class. I hope that you have a new comfort level in dealing with technology. Next semester your World Geography class will be taught using more traditional methods.

Have a great Christmas break and good luck next semester.

Week 9

Missing Assignments

All missing work is due by this Friday! The semester ends tomorrow and whenever you come back from break, you will be switching to a new World Geography class. Check Infinite Campus to make sure you have all of your assignments turned in. If you have anything missing, work on it today.

Extra Credit

Today’s assignment is OPTIONAL. I would advise everybody to do it though because it is worth 30 points Extra Credit. That’s quite a bit. There are 15 questions that are worth 2 points a piece. We’ve covered a few of these questions, but most of them are new material so you are allowed to use the internet. They all have something to do with Geography. You and your partner will work together and only do the assignment once. You will both earn the same score.

You will use the same website you use for Common Assessments to complete this assignment. Click on this link to do the assignment.

Your username is your first name, your last name, 232. There are no commas and no spaces. For example, my username would be:  jacobosborne232

Yours should look exactly like that except you will insert your first and last name instead of mine.

You must use your official school name. For example, if your name is William, but you go by Will, you must use your proper name William.

If you have 2 last names make sure you use both last names on your log-in. For example: If your name is Jose Reyes-Lopez, you would need to put josereyeslopez232.

Your password is your Mosis #.

Whenever you finish your test press “Submit”. You don’t have to tell me or show me your score. I have access to all of the scores.

The secret word for this assignment is:  extrac

12 Days of Videos

Since tomorrow is a short day I will go ahead and open all videos to you. If you go into Google Drive>Shared Drive>Videos>Osborne>etc. you may watch any video in there.

Week 9

USA TV and Movies

Most students don’t have this assignment finished yet. Continue working on it and turn it in whenever you are finished.

12 Days of Christmas

Since we missed a couple of days of school, here’s a few videos:

Today’s video is another OK GO video. In this video, all of their music, except for the ukulele, is created by their car and the obstacle course. The math and calculations that had to have been involved are amazing. Google Drive>Team Drive>Osborne>Christmas>Car Physics

Here is another video of the guy with the funny and sometimes impressive camera tricks. You can find it at Google Drive>Team Drive>Osborne>Christmas>More Camera Tricks

Here is one more OK Go video. They rode in an airplane that would fly at a high altitude and drop quickly to achieve zero gravity. You can find it at: Google Drive>Team Drive>Osborne>Christmas>OK Go Upside Down and Inside Out

Week 8

US TV/Movie Assignment

If you have the Latin America Map done, there is a new assignment today. Make sure to turn in your Latin America Map before you begin this assignment.

Today’s assignment can be found at Google Classroom.

For this assignment, you need to research the movies/tv shows that are listed on the last slide. Find out what state each of them took place in their stories. Then you will find the picture of a character from the movie/show and “cut” their picture from the bottom of the assignment and then “paste” them in the correct state. You may need to resize them to get them to fit inside of the correct state. You don’t need to do anything to the titles of the movies. Those are just there to help you know what shows to research. Only cut and paste the pictures.

I did one example for you. Walker, Texas Ranger obviously took place in the state of Texas so I cut and pasted Walker into Texas on the map. Use the region maps to paste your pictures to it. Don’t use the map that has all 50 states.

No state will be used more than one time.

When you are finished, save it and turn it in.

***TIP***

-There is a difference between “place” and “setting”. When you search, if you type in “place” it sometimes brings up searches for where the movie/show was filmed. That’s not what I am asking for. I want to know what state the movie/show takes place in. That is called the story’s setting.

-Goosebumps’ setting is not in Georgia.

12 Days of Christmas

Today’s video of the day is of Ohio State University’s marching band. They are famous for their creative formations that they use while they play. It’s neat how they work together to make them come to life. You can watch it at Google Drive>Team Drive>Osborne>Christmas>The Ohio State University Hollywood Blockbuster

Week 8

Latin America Map

Very few students have finished this assignment so far so today you need to finish working on the map and turn it into Google Classroom.

If you don’t remember what Central America is, go back to the Latin America Scavenger Hunt assignment and it is explained there.

Same tips/reminders as yesterday:

***Remember, don’t use the color blue to fill in a country. Blue is used for water on maps.***

***Also, don’t forget to label the Central American countries that are on the list. Those will be placed on the first map.***

12 Days of Christmas

I love today’s video. It is of an awesome soccer goalie, the man, the myth, the legend…Scott Sterling. Even if you hate soccer or sports, you’ll like this video. You can find it at Google Drive> Team Drive>Osborne>Christmas>Soccer Goalie

Week 8

Latin America Map

Today’s assignment deals with Latin America maps. You will learn a new skill in Word to complete this assignment. You will need to watch the Tutorial video at Google Drive>Shared Drive>Osborne>Computer Tutorials>Using Scribble in Word. The document for your assignment can be found here: Mapping Latin America  Make sure you map all of the countries the directions tell you to. Don’t forget to map the Central American countries too.

Since this is the first time we’ve colored a map in this class I need to let you know that you need to stay away from the color blue whenever you color maps. Blue is generally associated with water so don’t use it on the countries.

When you finish the assignment, make sure  you save it to your H Drive. You won’t have time to finish this today.

***Remember, don’t use the color blue to fill in a country. Blue is used for water on maps.***

***Also, don’t forget to label the Central American countries that are on the list. Those will be placed on the first map.***

12 Days of Christmas

Today’s video can be found at Google Drive>Shared Drive>Osborne>End of School> OK Go Umbrellas   It’s another OK Go video. What you see at the end is all from umbrellas. It is not enhanced by computers. I read an article on how they did this and it was pretty impressive

Week 8

SLO Post Test

Today you are going to take your SLO Post Test. Take your time. This is your only assignment today and it is for a grade. It is worth 40 points. All of the answers are in the test if you know how to read the charts and maps.

You can access the test here.

Your username is your first name, your last name, 232     There are no commas and no spaces.

I will tell you what the “secret word” for this assignment is whenever I’m ready for you to begin.

12 Days of Christmas

Today’s video is pretty impressive. It was made by 1 person using only post-it notes. He took thousands of pictures of his post-it note creations. None of this video is computer generated. You can find it Google Drive>Team Drive>Osborne>Christmas>Post-it Note Arcade

Week 8

SLO Post Test

Tomorrow we will meet in the Lab next door (149) so you can take your SLO Post Test. This is for a grade!

I will give you about half the class to finish the Latin America SLO from friday and to finish a new Climograph Practice Assignment. You can find the Climograph Practice Assignment here: Climograph Practice You don’t have to use complete sentences or turn this one in. After you finish this, we will review for tomorrow’s SLO Test as a class.

12 Days of Christmas

In day 3 of the 12 Days of Videos I selected an Ok Go video. Ok Go is a band that tries to think outside of the box to create their videos. I think some of their videos are absolutely brilliant. They will pop up another few times before the semester is over. For this video they worked with students from MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) to put together this crazy Rube Goldberg Machine.

To visit today’s video, go to Google Drive>Team Drive>Osborne>Christmas>Rube Goldberg

Week 7

SLO Assignment

Wednesday we are going to take our SLO Post Test. You already took this exact test at the beginning of the school year. It had a lot of maps, charts, and graphs on it. The first time you took it, you didn’t get a grade for it. This time you will.

Today you are going to do an assignment that has several questions that are very similar to what you will see on Wednesday. All of the questions focus on maps from Latin America.

Your assignment is located at Google Classroom.

12 Days of Christmas

Today’s video is an impressive video. The guy in the video is pretty creative and he does a good job of using camera tricks to complete his “magic”. You can find the video at Google Drive>Team Drive>Osborne>Christmas>Camera Tricks

Google has a Christmas section with games that you can visit these any time you have free time during the last couple weeks of the semester, if you have everything turned in.

Week 7

Absent

I am not here today. I expect you to be on your best behavior. If you finish all of your assignments today, you may do Cool Math.

Latin America Scavenger Hunt

Everyone should be working on this by now. Some students were able to finish this yesterday, but most are still working on it. Try to get this finished today. Tomorrow we will have something new.

12 Days of Christmas

We have 12 days of class left in the semester. In honor of Christmas and the “12 Days of Christmas”, I thought it would be fun to post a random video clip for you to watch as a brain break in each of our remaining classes. It’s up to you whether you watch them or not. It’s just something fun that you can use as a little break each day.Today’s video of the 12 Days of Videos does not need headphones. It is probably the most amazing control of the soccer ball that I’ve ever seen.

You can find it at Google Drive>Shared Drive>Osborne>Christmas>Amazing Football Freestyle
