Week 7

Continue working on the project. You should either be working on step #1 or step #2 today. If you finish both of those steps you have a little bit of free time. I still have about 1/3 of my students working on step #1 and I don’t want anybody to get too far ahead. I will give you instructions for Step #3 on Monday.

Your country should take up most of your paper. Also include surrounding (bordering) countries. Don’t trace your maps on your screens! That could scratch the monitor.

If you finish your map today, you can go ahead and take the picture of it and save it to your H drive. I have 3 tablets for you to borrow. After you borrow a tablet, follow these instructions for taking pictures and saving them to your H Drive:

1. Turn it on and Log in

2. Touch the Windows Icon in the bottom left corner and then select “All Apps” which should be directly above the Windows Icon.

3. Touch the camera icon

4. Take the picture of your drawn picture

5. Close out of the camera

6. Press the Desktop Icon

7. Open the “Folders” in the bottom left corner

8. Click “This PC” on the left side

9. Double click Pics

10. Double click “Camera Roll”

11. Press and hold your finger on your picture

12. Take you finger off and press “Send To”

13. Click on your H Drive

14. Click Save

To be on track, you need to be finished with step #1 by the end of class today.

Continue working on the project. You should either be working on step #1 or step #2 today. I will give you instructions for Step #3 on Monday.

To be on track, you need to be finished with step #1 by the end of class today.

One last thing, the last 12 days of 1st semester before Christmas Break, I thought it would be fun for my students if I did the “Twelve Days of Videos”. Counting today, we have 13 days of school left, but I doubt I will have all of you in class on the final day. I also thought that it would be nice for you to get a brain break each day while we work on the project. You can watch the video at the beginning or end of class or you might want to watch it somewhere in the middle of class to give your brain a little break and then get back to work. Today’s video of the 12 Days of Videos does not need headphones. It is probably the most amazing control of the soccer ball that I’ve ever seen.

Week 7

Some of you will start working on Step #2 today. If you get Step #1 finished, make sure you turn your storyboard into Google classroom. If I haven’t shown you how to do that when you are ready to turn it in, come to me and I will show you how.

After you turn in Step #1, there is plain, white paper and colored pencils on the desk at the front of the room (by the bookshelf). Make sure you do your neatest quality work on this. If you need to borrow a Sharpie for labeling, I have some that you may use.

Your country should take up most of your paper. Also include surrounding (bordering) countries. Don’t trace your maps on your screens! That could scratch the monitor.

Most of you are still working on Step #1. As long as you finish this step by the end of class tomorrow, you are where you should be in getting this project completed.

Week 7

Continue working on the Europe Commercial Project. Read the post from Friday for the directions.

Step 1 should take you most or maybe even all of this week.

REMINDER: This is not a report. It’s a commercial. Your wording will be different. Your not just telling me about your country, your trying to get me to go there. You will probably want to stay away from starting slides with, “This is…”

Remember to only use pictures that are Open Source. You can search for Open Source pictures at this link.

Week 6

I will give you a little bit more time to finish missing assignments. Then I will give you a new seating chart and explain the next project that we are going to be working on for the next couple of weeks. If you have any assignments from this rotation that you are unable to finish, I’d suggest you save it to the I Drive so both you and your partner can access it and you have until next Friday to turn them in with no penalty.

After we get new partners, today we are going to start a large project that we will be working on for the next couple of weeks. I am expecting very high quality work on all of your steps of the project.

You and your partner decided to enter a contest to create a commercial for a travel company that specializes on European vacations.

The directions for the assignment can be downloaded here: Europe Project Directions  Read all of the directions. Make sure you scroll to the bottom of the document to see examples.

Read all of the steps and look over the scoring guide before starting the assignment. This is a huge project. It is worth 100 points!

There are 3 steps to this project. Make sure you follow them. Do everything in order that the project shows you. Everything builds on each other. Don’t go out of order!

1. Pre-Production Planning/Storyboard (Create a rough draft on Google Slides. Find all of your pictures and save them to your H Drive) You will write your script word for word on each slide. Each slide will only have 1 picture maximum on it.

2. Create a map of your country on a plain, white sheet of paper.

3. Create your commercial in Movie Maker (You can watch a Movie Maker Tutorial video at  V Drive>Osborne>Computer Tutorials>Movie Maker Basics

Today you need to focus on step #1 from the directions which is your Pre-production Planning. You need to work on your rough draft/script/storyboard. You need to do your research and come up with your 15 artifacts.

You are going to use Google Classroom for step 1 of the project. Click this link to access Google Classroom

You shouldn’t finish step 1 today. This will take you at least a few class periods.

Remember that this is supposed to be a travel commercial. Select information about your country that a tourist would want to know and information that would make a tourist want to come to your country.

Week 6

Today is your final full day with your current partner. I will see where everyone is at the end of the hour today, but there’s a chance that you will have part of class tomorrow to finish working on assignments from this rotation. We’ve had several assignments this rotation so I want to make sure that most students have everything turned in before we move onto our next project.

Today is a catch-up day. If you have any missing assignments, you need to finish them and turn them in.

Most of you still need to do or finish the European Scavenger Hunt assignment. To save time, the only question that I want you to watch the video clip on is question #7. The other questions that tell you to watch videos can be answered by researching on the internet. You likely won’t be able to get the answer from just watching the video clip so save some time and just use the internet.

If there’s any assignments that you and your partner don’t finish before we switch to new partners tomorrow, you need to turn it in by next Friday for no penalties or grade reductions!

Week 6

I know that several of you are still working on the European Landmark assignment. Go ahead and finish that first before you move on.

Today’s new assignment should be pretty short. Also, tomorrow will be a catch-up day and it will be your last day with this partner.

Today’s new assignment is your final time with Mr. America. Since I know how much you love him, I know that your completely torn up about that. If you have your European Trivia from last week, this assignment should be pretty easy for you. A lot of these questions come from that assignment.

To save us some time, you can skip all of the questions on Question #1.

Here is the European Scavenger Hunt:   Europe Scavenger Hunt

***Note*** On #3, it’s one person that’s elected. What’s the name of their position? It’s not Parliament.

If the link on #13 is giving you trouble, click this link.

On #17, if you don’t know what the autobahn is, research it. You can’t just get your answer from the video if you don’t know a little bit about the autobahn. The autobahn is not the name of a car.

If you finish it, save it and turn it in.

If you get finished early you may:

-Read a book

-Work on other homework

-Visit class links or Google Earth

Week 6

Continue working on the European Landmark Vocabulary assignment from yesterday. Turn it in whenever you are finished.

2 Tips:

-The Kremlin and St. Basil’s Cathedral are not the same thing. Search for “Moscow Kremlin” and it might be more clear for you.

-Is England still a country?

Week 6

Today you are going to work on an assignment that focuses on European Landmarks.

Download the assignment from here:  European Landmarks

Use the internet to find a picture of the landmark and research information about it. On each slide you will need to:

1. Insert a picture of the landmark

2. Insert a textbox and answer what country it is located in.

3. Insert a textbox to answer what it is and why it is special. This one needs to be in complete sentences.

Tip: The Kremlin and St. Basil’s Cathedral are not the same thing.

I did the first one for you as an example. You will have today and tomorrow to work on this assignment.

Whenever you are finished, save it and turn it in.
