Last Day

This is your final full day of class as a 7th grader. You guys did a great job this semester. I believe that most of you gained a lot of confidence in your abilities on the computer and that will definitely help you in the future.

Have a great summer!

Final Week

Missing Assignments

Check Infinite Campus to make sure that you have a grade for every assignment that we’ve had. Today is your last full class period to work on missing work.

Geoguessr

If you have all of your assignments finished, I want you to play at least one round of Geoguessr. You can start from this link. It will only use locations found in the US. When you get your final score, raise your hand and I can check it. I will keep track and the highest score each hour will win some candy. You may play as many times as you want and you may use the internet to research locations.

Brain Break

Today’s video is another OK GO video. In this video, all of their music, except for the ukulele, is created by their car and the obstacle course. The math and calculations that had to have been involved are amazing. Google Drive>Team Drive>Videos>Osborne>End of School>Car Physics

There’s also another OK GO video you can watch that is called, “OK GO Upside Down and Inside Out”. In this video they made a music video while in a plane that would do a quick dive so everything on the plane would go into zero gravity.

When Finished

Whenever you have everything finished you may:

  1. Do the usual
  2. Visit Cool Math
  3. Watch any of the videos inside the End of School Folder
  4. Watch Mythbusters episodes from the Etc. Folder in Osborne Video

Final Week

Missing Assignments

I will announce missing assignments to start class today.

Assignment

Today’s assignment is OPTIONAL. I would highly advise everybody to do it though because it is worth up to 30 points Extra Credit! That’s quite a bit. There are 15 questions that are worth 2 points a piece. We’ve covered a few of these questions, but most of them are new material. They all have something to do with Geography. You may use the internet to help you.

Here is the link to the assignment. You may use the internet to help you.

Your username is your first name, your last name, 3589     There are no commas and no spaces. For example, my username would be:  jacobosborne3589

Yours should look exactly like that except you will insert your first and last name instead of mine.

You must use your official school name. For example, if your name is William, but you go by Will, you must use your proper name William.

If you have 2 last names make sure you use both last names on your log-in. For example: If your name is Jose Reyes-Lopez, you would need to put josereyeslopez3589.

Your password is your Mosis #.

Whenever you finish your test press “Submit”. You don’t have to tell me or show me your score. I have access to all of the scores.

The secret word for this assignment is:  extrac

Brain Break

Today’s video is another video of the guy with the funny and sometimes impressive camera tricks. You can find it at Google Drive>Team Drive>Videos>Osborne>End of School>More Camera Tricks

Scheduling for Next Year

Today the Counselor’s Office asked me to give you a paper to take home to your parents. It talks about scheduling for next year, among other things. Grab this paper off of the front table.

You won’t get to pick your electives for next year, but they will take your interests into consideration if you fill out the School Schedule Survey found in this link. This doesn’t guarantee you will get these electives, but your odds are higher that you will than if you don’t fill it out.

When Finished

Whenever you have everything finished you may:

  1. Do the usual
  2. Visit Cool Math
  3. Watch any of the videos inside the End of School Folder

Final Week

US TV/Movie Assignment

If you didn’t finish this on Friday, get this finished and turned in.

***TIP***

There is a difference between “place” and “setting”. When you search, if you type in “place” it sometimes brings up searches for where the movie/show was filmed. That’s not what I am asking for. I want to know what state the movie/show takes place in. That is called the story’s setting.

Missing Work

There still are several students that haven’t turned in the Google Earth assignment. Check Infinite Campus to make sure that you have a grade for that assignment. Check all of your other assignments to make sure that you have grades for them. If you don’t, you need to finish those assignments and turn them in.

Brain Break Video

I love today’s video. It is of an awesome soccer goalie, the man, the myth, the legend…Scott Sterling. Even if you hate soccer or sports, you’ll like this video. You can find it at Video (V) Drive>Osborne>End of School>Soccer Goalie

After you watch him play soccer, you can also watch him attempt to play volleyball. That video is found in the same folder. It is called, “Best Volleyball Blocks”.

Week 8

Finish Movie

First we are going to finish the movie.

US TV/Movie Assignment

Today’s assignment can be found at Google Classroom.

For this assignment, you need to research the movies/tv shows that are listed on the last slide. Find out what state each of them took place in their stories. Then you will find the picture of a character from the movie/show and “cut” their picture from the bottom of the assignment and then “paste” them in the correct state. You may need to resize them to get them to fit inside of the correct state. You don’t need to do anything to the titles of the movies. Those are just there to help you know what shows to research. Only cut and paste the pictures.

I did one example for you. Walker, Texas Ranger obviously took place in the state of Texas so I cut and pasted Walker into Texas on the map. Use the region maps to paste your pictures to it. Don’t use the map that has all 50 states.

No state will be used more than one time.

When you are finished, save it and turn it in.

Brain Break Video

Today’s video can be found at Google Drive>Team Drive>Osborne>End of School> OK Go Umbrellas   It’s another OK Go video. What you see at the end is all from umbrellas. There is no computer or camera tricks involved. I read an article on how they did this and it was pretty impressive.

Week 8

Desegregation

When we studied Africa we learned a little bit about some racist laws that they had put in place called apartheid. The US used to have some racist laws as well. They were called the Jim Crow laws. Whenever these laws finally got overturned, the laws changed, but it took a while for some of the people’s thoughts and feelings to change. Over the next few days we are going to watch a movie that focuses on desegregation in Alexandria, Virginia and how it impacted the school and the people in the city. This is based on a true story. It doesn’t follow the true events perfectly, but a lot of it really did happen.

There are some questions that go along with the movie. They can be found in Google Classroom.

Brain Break Video

There won’t be time today or tomorrow for a new video. I might post a couple of extra videos one day next week.

Week 8

Final Test

Today is our Final Test! You can access the test at this link. Your log-in information is the same as it’s been all year:

Yours should look exactly like that except you will insert your first and last name instead of mine.

Test Read

If you want to have the test read to you, I made a video that can be found at Google Drive>Team Drive>Osborne>Europe>Final Test This video reads the entire test out loud to you.

Brain Break Video

Today’s video is pretty impressive. It was made by 1 person using only post-it notes. He took thousands of pictures of his post-it note creations. None of this video is computer generated. You can find it Google Drive>Team Drive>Osborne>End of School>Post-it Note Arcade

Week 8

Final Test Tomorrow

The Final Test is Tomorrow. We will meet in the Media Center. It is worth 100 points. Today you need to review for the test. There are 3 things you can do that will help you study:

Brain Break Video

Today’s video of the day is of Ohio State University’s marching band. They are famous for their creative formations that they use while they play. Brain Break Video

In day 3 of the 12 Days of Videos I selected an Ok Go video. Ok Go is a band that tries to think outside of the box to create their videos. I think some of their videos are absolutely brilliant. They will pop up another few times before the semester is over. For this video they worked with students from MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) to put together this crazy Rube Goldberg Machine.

To visit today’s video, go to the Google Drive>Team Drive>Osborne>End of School>Rube Goldberg
