Week 2

Today is an early out day. It is also our final day covering the United States. I have a video for you to watch about the Florida Everglades. You can find the video on the Video (V)Drive>Osborne>United States>MvsWEverglades

Week 2

Today you are going to take your US Test. Whenever you finish the test, submit it.

Here is the link to the test.

Your username is your first name, your last name, 32     There are no commas and no spaces. For example, my username would be:  jacobosborne32

Yours should look exactly like that except you will insert your first and last name instead of mine.

Your password is your Mosis #.

There is to be no talking for the rest of the hour. If you talk, you will receive a 0. I will give you the secret word in a couple of moments.

After you finish you are allowed to do what you are always allowed to do.

1. Read a book

2. Work on homework from another class

3. Visit Class Links or Since this is a test day, I will allow you to go to CoolMath whenver you are finished.

Week 2

Today is your final day with your current partner. If you have any missing assignments from this rotation, you need to finish and turn them in. Infinite Campus Log-ins have changed! Now whenever you log into Infinite Campus, your username and password or the same as whenever you log onto the computers. Hopefully that makes it easier for you to log-in.

We have a test tomorrow! If you haven’t already picked up a study guide, you need to pick up both pages of the study guide off of the desk at the front of the room (next to the bookshelf). Everyone needs their own copy of the study guide. You may use previous assignments or the internet to find answers. If you correctly fill this out and study, you should do well on the test.

This is a 50 point test! Some of you didn’t take the States and Capitals test very seriously and you earned a poor grade. Getting a good grade on this test can help make up for that.

Here’s a link to a quick study game that will help you review the US Regions.

Tomorrow we will meet in the Media Center.

Week 2

Today we are going to finish our presentations. Make sure that your presentation is in the correct folder Students (I) Drive>Osborne>Your Hour>States PowerPoint

If you have already presented, grab a study guide off of the front table. We have a test over the United States on Wednesday. If you study the study guide and you know that material, you will do well on the test.

Week 1

We are going to start presentations today. I’m going to give you about a couple of minutes to get things in order while I take care of attendance. Make sure that you have saved your PowerPoint to the correct folder. If it’s not there, you will lose some points!

Whenever you finish I want you to save it to   Student (I) Drive>Osborne>Your Hr>State PowerPoint

Week 1

Continue working on your PowerPoint. I’m planning on tomorrow being your last full class period to work on this.

If you are able to get it finished today, I don’t want you to turn it in the normal way. I want you to save it to   Student (I) Drive>Osborne>Your Hr>State PowerPoint

Week 1

Extra Credit Opportunity! I had several students not prepare for the states and capitals test like they should have. This extra credit opportunity won’t make up for your poor test grade, but it will help it some. It doesn’t matter if you received an A or an F, you are allowed to do the extra credit opportunity.

Your assignment is:

1. On a blank sheet of paper number 1-50.

2. List the 50 states

3. Next to each state write the capital

4. Next to each capital write the postal abbreviation for that state

You won’t receive any class time to do this. This is due on Thursday. If you do this assignment you will receive 10 extra credit points. It must be CORRECTLY and COMPLETELY finished to get the extra credit points.

This week will be researching a specific state and then we’ll create a PowerPoint presentation. I’m going to show you the “Do’s and Don’ts of PowerPoint”.

We’ve used PowerPoint before, but if you don’t remember how to use it you can watch a short video that shows you the basics. Go to the Video (V) Drive. Open the Osborne folder. Click on the “Computer Tutorials” folder. Open the “PowerPoint Basics” video.

You are going to research a state and create a PowerPoint about it. Here are your directions: US States Project

You may use the internet to find information and pictures about your state. Below are a couple of resources that will guide you to the information you need.

Here’s a link that might give you some information about your state.

If you want to see the “Do’s and Don’ts PowerPoint” you can access it here: PowerPoint Do’s and Don’ts

You will have 3 full classes to work on this assignment. I’m hoping/planning on starting presentations sometime Friday.

Save it as:

hr-last name-last name-the name of your state

Week 1

There’s several of you that still need to turn in the US Scavenger Hunt or the US Regions assignment. I want you to do this new assignment first. It shouldn’t take you very long to finish. You need to download this document:  US Map

You need to insert a text box to label the places on the map. Your text box shouldn’t have any lines around it and its “fill” color should be “no color”. If you don’t remember how to do this you can rewatch the video from earlier this year at    Folders>Video (V) Drive>Osborne>Computer Tutorials>Insert Text Box and Shapes in Word 1st Sem

The locations that need to be on your map are:

Each of the 5 Great Lakes

Pacific Ocean

Atlantic Ocean

Gulf of Mexico

Mississippi River

Missouri River

Rio Grande

Rocky Mountains

Appalachian Mountains

Save it as:

hr-last name-last name-USmap

Then turn it in.

After you turn this in, I want you to take this language quiz for fun. This quiz tells you where in the US you get your speech habits from. Depending on where you live in the United States, you use different words or pronounce words differently. Your family’s history on where they are from or have lived, greatly affects this. Whenever you finish, it will try to predict what part of the country you are from. When I took this quiz, it guessed that I was from Wichita, Springfield, or Lexington. So it guessed the correct part of the country for me.

Both you and your partner will probably want to take the quiz so each of you can see if it can guess where you are from in the US.

After you take the quiz, work on any missing assignments.

If you have everything turned in, you can do what you’re always allowed to do:

-Read a book

-Work on Homework from another class

-Visit Class Links/Google Earth

Week 9

Today we are taking our states and capitals test.

Your username is your first name, your last name, 32     There are no commas and no spaces. For example, my username would be:  jacobosborne32

Yours should look exactly like that except you will insert your first and last name instead of mine.

Your password is your Mosis #.

Here is a link to the test.

I will give you the secret word.

Whenever you finish your test you don’t have to tell me or show me your score. I have access to all of the scores.

After you submit your test you may:

1. Read a book

2. Work on homework

3. Visit class links
