Last Day!

This is your final full day of class as a 7th grader. You guys did a great job this semester. I believe that most of you gained a lot of confidence in your abilities on the computer and that will definitely help you in the future.

***If you brought earbuds, make sure you take them with you today! You won’t have a chance to get them after today.***

If you haven’t gotten your project turned in yet, it must be turned in today. You only have about 20-30 minutes to get that finished up!

If you already have the project turned in, you know what you’re allowed to do.

Have a great summer!

Week 9

I thought today would be your last day to have class time to work on your projects, but it looks like you should have time on Tuesday as well. With this extra time, I’m fully expecting everyone to have their projects completed and turned in properly. Today is your last day to take the picture with the tablets! I will not have access to those on Monday!

Today’s video is actually 2 short video clips. They are Christmas themed because I originally downloaded the videos as a 12 Days of Christmas activity. They are found in the Video (V) Drive>Osborne>End of School>Scott Sterling Christmas and Star Wars Christmas Lights

Week 9

You have 2 days left to finish the project. Look back at previous posts for project directions.

Today’s video is OK GO’s most impressive one. They don’t use any computers for anything that you see. The timing they had to use to get the images you see from the sky is really impressive. You can watch it at:  Video (V) Drive>Osborne>End of School>OK GO Umbrella

Week 9

Change of plans! I won’t have you present your projects. I thought too many groups would have trouble finishing by today and then yesterday we had internet issues so we most of you for sure need extra time. Counting today, you have 3 days to finish everything.

Look back at previous posts to find directions for the assignment.

Monday of this week: Movie Maker tips, inserting music, and directions for saving.

Last Friday:  Directions for using the tablet to take a picture of your map

Before you turn the project in, double check the project directions here:  Europe Project Directions

Whenever you turn in your project, you may:

-Work on homework from another class

-Read a book

-Watch End of School or Extra Time videos from the video drive

-Play Cool Math

-Visit Class Links or Google Earth

Just sitting and Visiting is not an option.

Today’s video is Angry Bird Soccer. It was made by a couple of college soccer players that were looking for something fun to do. you can find it at:  Video (V) Drive>Osborne>End of School>Angry Bird Soccer

Week 9

Continue working on the project. Read previous posts for directions depending on what step you are on. If you are now working on Movie Maker, make sure you read yesterday’s entry!

Today’s video is another halftime show from the Ohio State marching band. This one focuses on famous movies from Hollywood. You can find it at Video (V) Drive>Osborne>End of School>The Ohio State Marching Band Hollywood

Week 9

2 Movie Maker Tips!

-If any of your pictures look funny in Movie Maker (looks like a bunch of squares or lines or looks distorted), delete the picture from Movie Maker and rename it on your H Drive. After you rename it, you can reinsert it and it should be fixed. It’s a glitch that sometimes pops up in this version of Movie Maker.

-When you download your music, it will be put into a zipped folder. That means you need to go into your folders and find your saved song. If you look at the folder icon, it should have a zipper on it. Double click on it and there will be multiple song files in it. Copy the song file that is the name of your song without any numbers after the name. Paste that into your H Drive. After it’s pasted to your H Drive, it is ready to be inserted into your commercial.

You have 3 days, counting today, to finish the project. I hope to start presentations on Thursday. Most of you are either finishing step 3 or beginning step 4. The very last thing you need to do on the project is add music. Make sure you have everything else finished. All of your pictures and text should be in Movie Maker first. Add the music last! I made a new tutorial video that shows you how to save the songs. You can access it at Video (V) Drive>Osborne>Computer Tutorials>Importing Songs.

After you add your song and you are all the way finished with your video, you need to make sure you save it in a video format. The Movie Maker Tutorial shows you how to do that. Follow the steps in the video, to save it properly. First save it to your H Drive and then copy and paste it into:  Student (I) Drive>Osborne>Your Hour>Europe Movie Maker

Save it as:     hr-last name-last name-name of your country

You will get your music from this link!

Today’s video of the day is a very creative video. Watch this guy as he performs some amazing magic…or camera tricks. You can watch it at Video (V) Drive>Osborne>End of School>Camera Tricks

Week 8

Today is an early out day. After today, you have 3 more class periods to work on this project! You need to finish step #3 today if you aren’t done with it yet.

If you are working on step #4 (Movie Maker), get all of your pictures and text inserted into the project. If you are ready to get your drawn picture into your project you will need to take a picture of it with a tablet. I have 2 tablets for you to borrow. After you borrow a tablet, follow these instructions for taking pictures and saving them to your H Drive:

1. Turn it on and Log in

2. Touch the Windows Icon in the bottom left corner

3. Touch the purple camera icon

4. Take the picture of your drawn picture

5. Close out of the camera

6. Press the Desktop Icon

7. Open the “Folders” in the bottom left corner

8. Click “This PC” on the left side

9. Double click Pics

10. Click “Camera Roll”

11. Press and hold your finger on your picture

12. Take you finger off and press “Send To”

13. Click on you H Drive

14. Click Save

If you finish step #3 today, you can watch today’s video of the day. This Video is of an awesome soccer goalie, the man, the myth, the legend, Scott Sterling. Even if you hate soccer, you’ll like this video. You can find it at Video (V) Drive>Osborne>End of School>Soccer Goalie

Week 8

Most of you are still working on your storyboard. Whenever you finish your storyboard you should have at least 17 slides: 1 slide for your name, hour, and country, 1 slide for your picture of the map you created, and then 15 slides for the required artifacts. Make sure that you saved your pictures to your H Drive and that you didn’t just copy and paste them into your storyboard. You will need to have the pictures saved for them to be inserted into Movie Maker. I’m hoping that nearly everyone finishes their storyboards today. After you finish it, make sure you turn it in.

After you finish the storyboard, you need to begin working on Step #4 which is the Movie Maker portion. Watch the tutorial video before you begin. Video (V) drive>osborne>computer tutorials>movie maker Do everything you can before you select your music. I will provide directions for inserting music next week. I will have tablets available for you to take the picture of your maps starting tomorrow.

Today’s video is another OK GO video. In this video, all of their music, except for the ukulele, is created by their car and the obstacle course. The math and calculations that had to have been involved are amazing. Video (V) Drive>Osborne>End of Year>Car Physics

Week 8

You can access your final test at this link.

This is the same website you have used for your  common assessment tests.

Your username is your first name, followed by your last name, and then 318.

Example: My log-in would be:  jacobosborne318

Your password is your Mosis #

I will give you the secret word at the start of class.

Whenever you finish the test, you may visit class links or Cool Math. There is to be no talking for the entire hour!

Today’s video of the 12 Days of Videos does not need headphones. It is probably the most amazing control of the soccer ball that I’ve ever seen.

If the video won’t play for you, watch it from Video (V)>Osborne>End of School>Amazing Football Freestyle

Week 8

Your Final Test is tomorrow! Make sure you study the study guide! Tomorrow we will meet in the Media Center.

Today’s video is pretty impressive. It was made by 1 person using only post-it notes. He took thousands of pictures of his post-it note creations. None of this video is computer generated. You can find it Video (V)>Osborne>End of School>Post-it Note Arcade

By now, almost everybody is working on step #2 or step #3. If you are still working on step #2, stop working on it for now and move onto step #3. You will probably need to finish step #2 at home. That is something that you shouldn’t need a computer for. If you need to borrow a book, let me know and I’ll let you check one out. Another option for you is to work on it after you finish your test tomorrow.

Everybody should be working on step #3 today. If you get finished with it early, I want you to study for the test.
