Week 6

Missing Work

If you didn’t finish the video or the assignment from yesterday, finish those. If you have any missing assignments from this rotation, you and your partner have today to finish them. If you have any assignments from this rotation that you are unable to finish by the end of the hour, I’d suggest you save it to the I Drive so both you and your partner can access it and you have until next Friday to turn them in with no penalty.

Geoguessr Contest

If you have everything finished, I want you to do 1 round (5 maps) from this link. It will only use locations found in the US. Whenever you finish your round (after your 5th map) you will be given a total score. When this score is on your screen, raise your hand and I will keep track of who has the high score. The highest score at the end of the hour will get a prize. You can play as many times as you want. Also, you are allowed to use the internet to google signs and building names to try to help you figure out where you are located.

After Geoguessr

After you have all of your assignments finished and you have done at least 1 round of Geoguessr, you may:

  1. Read a book
  2. Work on homework from another class
  3. Visit class links or Google Earth
  4. Watch the Arctic Sweden Video from yesterday

Week 6

Infinite Campus

Check Infinite Campus first to see if you have a grade for each assignment in this rotation. If you still need to turn something in, work on it and get it finished so you can turn it in. Tomorrow is our last day with our partners.

You have A Choice

If you have everything finished and turned in, you have a choice about what you will do first today. There is a new assignment about European Capitals that is short and there is a video about the Arctic Sweden. I don’t care which order you do these in. Tomorrow is a catch up day so if you have everything finished already, you won’t have any trouble getting both of these finished over the course of today and tomorrow.

European Capitals

Today you have a short assignment that covers the capitals of Europe. Download it here: European Capitals

Turn it in whenever you are finished.

Arctic Sweden

Sweden is one of three countries (along with Norway and Finland) that is known as Scandanavia. Scandanavaia is a very cold region of Europe. Today we are going to watch a video about the Arctic Sweden.  You can find it at Video (V) Drive>Osborne>Europe>MvsWArcticSweden

Week 6

World War I and World War II

Both World Wars changed the geography of Europe quite a bit. The first part of class I am going to go over a presentation with you that gives a brief overview of the wars and how they changed the geography of Europe.

European Scavenger Hunt

Several students in ever class haven’t finished the European Scavenger Hunt so this is what we will continue to work on with extra time. Turn it in whenever you finish.

Week 6

Europe Scavenger Hunt

This is the final Scavenger Hunt assignment of the school year. It will likely take you today and tomorrow. This assignment is back on the Google Classroom website. Click this link to access Google Classroom

If you finish it, save it and turn it in.

Tips

***Note*** On the question about who runs the United Kingdom, it’s one person that’s elected. What’s the name of their position? It’s not Parliament.

If the link on the Napoleon Bonaparte question is giving you trouble, click this link.

You will need to use the internet to find the answer to the question about the Running of Bulls.

Week 5

European Landmarks

Only a few groups have finished this assignment. There are no new assignments today. We will start something new on Monday. Try to get everything from this week finished and turned in.

Week 5

Europe Table

I still have some students that are working on the European Economy Table. If you still haven’t finished this, you are a little bit behind and you need to try to pick up the pace a little bit.

European Landmarks

Most students are working on this. Continue working on it and turn it in whenever you are finished.

2 Tips:

-The Kremlin and St. Basil’s Cathedral are not the same thing. Search for “Moscow Kremlin” and it might be more clear for you.

-Is England still a country?

Week 5

Europe Economy Table

Several of you still need to finish this assignment from yesterday. Get that finished first and then turn it in.

European Landmarks

Today you are going to work on an assignment that focuses on European Landmarks.

Download the assignment from here:  European Landmarks

For this assignment you will use the internet to find a picture of the landmark and research information about it. On each slide you will need to:

1. Insert a picture of the landmark

2. Insert a textbox and answer what country it is located in.

3. Insert a textbox to answer what it is and why it is special. This one needs to be in complete sentences.

Tip: The Kremlin and St. Basil’s Cathedral are not the same thing.

I did the first one for you as an example. This assignment is a longer assignment. It will likely take you a couple of days to complete it.

Whenever you are finished, save it and turn it in.

Week 5

Finish Religion Comparison Chart

Continue working on the Religion Comparison Chart from yesterday. After you finish it, turn it in.

Europe Economy Table

For this assignment you are doing something that looks familiar to you, but it’s a little different this time. You will not use Excel for this assignment. You will do this assignment in Word. I want you to create a table from scratch. To do that, you will need to open up a blank document in Word and then watch the tutorial video about creating tables:  Video (V) Drive>Osborne>Computer Tutorials>Creating a Table

Follow the directions from each of the steps below. I want you center all of your text in the column and in the cell.

1. 5  Headings- Countries$GDP, Life Expectancy, Literacy Rate, and Classification.    I want you to use size 18 font for the headings and make them bold.

2. In the countries column there are 15 countries I want you to include using 12 point font. They are: United Kingdom, France, Ireland, Spain, Portugal, Belgium, Netherlands, Switzerland, Italy, Greece, Sweden, Russia, Ukraine, Monaco, and Norway.

3. In the $GDP column, you need to use this link to find the GDP per capita in each of the countries.  Type the GDP for each country in the column using 12 point font. Make sure you use dollar signs.

4. Use this link to find the life expectancy rates for each country. Use 12 point font and round each number so there aren’t any decimal points. They should all be whole numbers.

5. To find the literacy rates, I want you to use Google tools. Go to Google and type in the name of the country you are looking for and the words Literacy Rate. Example, for the United Kingdom, I would go to Google and type in:   United Kingdom Literacy Rate   Use the literacy rates for the total population.  Round each number so there aren’t any decimal points. Use 12 point font. They should all be whole numbers.

6. For the Classification column, I want you to look at the data to determine whether you believe they are a developed country or a developing country. Use 12 point font to write which one you believe each country is.

You can use this chart as a guide to help you determine the classification.

DEVELOPED (rich)

MIDDLE-INCOME

DEVELOPING (poor)

LIFE EXPECTANCY

M – 70 and above

F – 80 and above

M – 60’s & 70’s

During the first part of class today you need to finish any missing assignment from this partner rotation. Later this hour we are going to get new partners.

After you get with your new partner, this is the assignment we are going to start working on today.

The assignment is found here: Comparing Religions

Use a different color font for each column. For example, Islam would all be one color. Judaism would all be a different color and so on.

These are the PowerPoints you’ve read when learning about each of the religions:

Christianity

Hinduism

Judaism

Islam

When you finish the assignment, save and turn it in.
