Week 2

Friday is your test over Southeast Asia. We will meet in the Media Center. Everyone will take the test on their own. Make sure you study your study guide! Those are on the front table by the bookshelf. If you finish your assignment early today, this would be a great use of your time. You will have tomorrow to work on them and study if you don’t get to it today.

Today you are going to read some famous quotes from Gandhi. You will select one and explain its meaning.

Open this document of Gandhi Quotes:   Gandhi Quotes

You and your partner need to select 1 quote from Group 1. I was going to have you select one from group 2 as well, but I wanted to give you extra time on your study guide so I decided to shorten the assignment. You must select a quote from Group 1.

Open this PowerPoint and follow the directions that are on each slide. Gandhi Quote Assignment   Whenever you finish the assignment you will have 3 slides and you will insert 1 pictures that you create in Paint. Your picture will be graded mostly on effort. To get full credit on this assignment you must delete the last 3 slides on this PowerPoint. You were going to have to do 2 quotes, but I shortened the assignment.

To delete a slide in PowerPoint, look at the left side of the screen where you can sort your slides. The last 3 slides have a blue background. Click on each of those slides, on the left side, and press delete on your keyboard.

When you are finished, save it and turn it in.

Today we are going to finish the movie. After you finish watching part 4, you should be able to answer all of the questions on the movie guide.

In the video yesterday, you saw India win their Independence. Today you will see new issues pop up for them. The Hindus and Muslims were having trouble getting along in their country so they felt they needed to figure out a way to fix that problem so they could avoid a civil war.

After you finish the movie guide, save it and turn it in.

Week 2

Today you will watch Gandhi Part 3.

On Friday, it ended with the Amritsar Massacre. It was reported that the British fired 1,650 bullets at the unarmed Indians. Both sides debate the number of people killed. The British claimed that around 380 people died and a further 1,200 were wounded. The Indians claim that around 1,000 people died with another 500 injured. General Dyer’s punishment for ordering the Massacre was, he was forced to retire from the military and sent back to England. That was it. When he returned to England, he was treated like a war hero by many people.

Don’t forget about your questions from the movie guide.

Week 1

Continue watching Gandhi.

Today you will watch part 2. Video (V) Drive OR C Drive>Osborne>Southeast Asia> Gandhi Part 2

In part 2 Gandhi is trying to rediscover India. He’s been in England and South Africa for so long that he doesn’t remember what India is like so he wants to re familiarize himself with it before he does anything to help them gain their Independence.

Remember that you have questions to answer from the video guide.
