Week 9

Today is your last full class period to work on your PowerPoint. We are going to start presentations tomorrow. This is what I want you to do today:

1. Finish your PowerPoint.

2. After you finish your PowerPoint, you need to go through it with your partner and figure out how you are going to present it. If you need to create notes on a sheet of paper or note cards, you may do so. Don’t just wait until the presentation to figure out what you will say. Both partners must speak/present to receive credit.

-Go over the Scoring Guide to make sure your PowerPoint has all of the slides that you need! It was obvious that there were some students who didn’t go over their scoring guides on your last project.

-Go back over the Do’s and Don’ts of PowerPoint to make sure that your PowerPoint followed all of the rules! 1/3 of your grade comes from whether or not you followed these rules. I will be grading these pretty strict!

For example, yesterday I noticed several PowerPoints that had complete sentences. If yours has complete sentences, you should know that you will lose some points.

3. Make sure you have it turned in correctly! You are not turning it in the normal way. You need to save it to:  Student (I) Drive>Osborne>Your Hour>Inside the Asia PowerPoint folder

4. Check Infinite Campus to check your grades and to make sure you have everything turned in. No missing assignments will be accepted after Friday because that’s when 3rd quarter ends.

I’m still missing the Southeast Asia Scavenger Hunt and the Southeast Asia Excel assignment from multiple groups in most of my classes!

After you have everything turned in:

-Read a book

-Work on homework from another class

-Visit class links/google earth

Week 9

This is the final week of the quarter. If you have any missing assignments, I need them by Friday or you will no longer have an opportunity to make them up.

Some of you still owe me:

-Southeast Asia Scavenger Hunt

-Southeast Asia Excel

Both of these were with your current partner. I already gave you a catch up day to work on these. Make arrangements to get these done and turned in by Friday.

Today I want you to continue working on your PowerPoint Project.

A few reminders for you to keep in mind!

-Make sure you follow the Do’s and Don’ts of PowerPoint

-The fewer words you use on slides, the better

-Stay away from complete sentences

-Make sure it’s easy to read

-Find interesting pictures

-Limit animations

Whenever you finish you need to save it to a specific folder on the shared drive. Students (I) Drive>Osborne>Your Hour>Asia PowerPoint Folder

Week 9

Presentations were going to start on Monday, but since we missed school the past 2 days, presentations will now start next Wednesday. That will give the same amount of time to work before we present.

Continue working on your projects.

Remember to follow the rules of PowerPoint.

DON’T USE TOO MUCH TEXT ON YOUR SLIDES! Stay away from complete sentences.

Remember, if you have text on your slides it should serve 1 of 2 purposes:

1. It’s important and you want it emphasized to your audience

2. You want it on there to help you remember to talk about it (You can have notes when you speak though too)

Week 9

Here is the PowerPoint I went over today that gives you tips on what you should or shouldn’t have in your PowerPoint: PowerPoint Do’s and Don’ts

Week 9

I have a couple of PowerPoints that I’m going to go over with you.

The first one will show you the basics of China.

The second PowerPoint will be the Do’s and Don’ts of PowerPoint.

Whenever I am finished going over these PowerPoints, I’m hoping you will have a little bit of time to look over your project and get started.
