Week 7

The first priority today is to finish your project. If you have your project finished and turned in, you are going to work on a study guide for Thursday’s test. You need to pick up a study guide off of the desk at the front of the room. The one by the bookshelf. Everyone needs their own copy of the study guide. You can use the internet or previous assignments to answer the questions on the study guide.

Week 6

I’m hoping that several of you will finish your projects today, but I know there will be several groups who don’t finish. All of my classes have done a great job of staying on task and almost everyone’s been working really hard. Monday’s assignment will be a Study Guide for next Thursday’s Africa Test. If you don’t finish the project today, you can work on it more on Monday instead of the Study Guide. The Study Guide won’t be for a grade, but it will definitely help you prepare for the test.

Week 6

***FYI*** You will receive no credit for any slides that have copied and pasted text. I have noticed a couple of groups copying and pasting text. If you do that, you won’t receive credit.

I’ve been very pleased with how well you’ve been working so far. You’ve done a great job of staying on task. Today you will continue working on the project. Make sure you are finding good facts about your topics and interesting facts that are actually interesting. I will be grading pictures on effort. If I can tell you worked hard on it, you will get a good grade for it. If it looks like you just flew through it, you’ll be losing some points.

If you are able to finish the project, you need to save it and turn it in like normal.

Week 6

***FYI*** You will receive no credit for any slides that have copied and pasted text. I have noticed a couple of groups copying and pasting text. If you do that, you won’t receive credit.

Continue working on the Africa project.

Make sure you get your research done. I know that you will want to create your pictures first, but I don’t want to see you spend so much time on your pictures that you run out of time to find the information that you need.

Also, the picture on your title slide can come from the internet. Make sure you link it to my website though. You will create all of the other pictures in paint.

Some of you will start creating your pictures in paint. You will be graded on effort with your pictures. If you quickly throw it together; that’s obvious. You will lose points. If I feel it looks like you put effort into the picture; you will earn your points.

Week 6

Today we are going to continue learning about Africa. There are many misconceptions about this continent.

Click on this link to read what a misconception is.

You need to download this document:  Misconceptions

Highlight whether you believe each answer is true or false. You aren’t allowed to use the internet for this. You will only have about 10 minutes to finish before we talk about it as a class.

Later this hour, if we have time, I will go over our next project. Download this document so you can read the directions:   Africa Project

Week 5

Continue working on your Africa Scavenger Hunt assignment from Wednesday. Remember that you always need to use complete sentences where you restate the question in your answer!

Week 5

Tonight is Social Studies Night in the Auditorium. It will be held from 6:00-7:00. If you attend, you will earn 10 points extra credit. It is a guest speaker from George Washington Carver National Monument. When the presentation is over, there will be a sign in sheet for you to sign, so you can get your extra credit.

Today I will give you some catch-up time for your last rotation. Some of my classes don’t have very much make up work, but some of my classes have quite a bit. Check Infinite Campus so you can see your grade for this class. If there’s any grade that is empty, that means you haven’t turned it in. If there’s any assignment that you don’t get finished, you have until next Friday to turn it in without penalty.

If you have everything turned in, make sure you have something you’re working on. You may:

-Read a book

-Work on homework from another class

-Visit class links

-Watch a video about the Florida Everglades. You can find it at: Video (V) Drive>Osborne>United States>MvsWEverglades

Reminder! This is a great opportunity for you to practice your Google skills. Don’t type out the entire question. Only type key words. Your results will be more accurate and you will be able to finish quicker.

Whenever you finish, save it and turn it in.
